Our favourite grooming set

06 July 2012

This is my favourite grooming set, mainly because of the massive versatility. I received this as a gift when it was new out and I have been really pleased with it. It has a total of ten different settings and although it might not be as good as something like the I-Stubble as a daily beard trimmer it can truly be called a grooming kit as I have yet to find an aspect of male grooming that the Babyliss doesn't handle well.

It has a precision trimmer with a titanium blade to guarantee a precise cut and durability. I must admit this is not something I have used an awful lot, mainly because it is just as quick and easy to remove the grade you are using and use the main blade for the edge of my stubble, although have lots of friends who like to be very precise with their designer stubble so this would be something people like that would benefit more from.

Although I don't want to conjure up images of me as an old man with hairy ears and nostrils I found the nose and ear trimmer really useful. It's not something that is used very often but I can promise you I feel a lot more comfortable with Babyliss 7235U in my hand than I ever did with a pair of scissors up my nose.

The set also includes a foil shaver, 4 body groomer combs and a five position comb guide. Also included is a bottle of oil for cleaning, a moustache comb and cleaning comb. The trimmer comes in a nice looking charging kit/ stand although I don't really use it as a charging stand because I haven't got a mains plug in my bathroom.

The Babyliss 7235U truly is a complete male grooming kit. It handles well and feels nicely weighted in your hand when you are shaving. Having recently seen an I-Stubble in action I have started to think the Babyliss 7235U is not as easy and quick as something like the I-Stubble and it certainly does not travel as well, I find the number of removal parts means I am reluctant to take more than the guide I am using in case bits get lost.

In summary I would recommend the Babyliss 7235U grooming kit to people who want a truly good value for money grooming kit. With this piece of equipment even the hairiest of us chaps can be shaved into shape and there is excuse for unsightly nose and ear hair. The only fault I can truly find is that it does not include lube for life technology so it does need to be oiled. But at the price these are currently retailing for it is a real bargain and I would be happy to recommend this for people to buy for themselves or as a gift.

BabyLiss for Men 7890u I-Stubble Beard Trimmer

05 July 2012

July 2012 Best Buy Beard Trimmer - Babyliss 7890u I-Stubble

Babyliss I-Stubble FROM £39.99 to £59.99

Babyliss 7890u Beard TrimmerBaByliss for Men i-trim or i-stubble is designed to give you every day stubble control. The 7890u beard trimmer has 30 super precise length settings, so you can maintain your preferred facial hair style and look at all times.

The i-stubble shaver's shortest setting is 0.4mm and its longest is 3.5mm with 28 other length settings in between, the unit is quite a bit longer than other shavers on the market but it doesn't feel over size and glides smoothly and precisely over skin. The i-trim feels well made and solid and should provide many years of quality and daily use.

I am strongly considering buying the BabyLiss for Men 7890u I-Stubble. There has been a lot of hype about this product and I was sure the catchy I-Stubble branding has a lot to do with this. Initially I was a little bit cynical about this product but a friend has bought the I-Stubble through and he is very pleased with it, as well my website!

I have had a look at his I-Stubble and I have to admit I was impressed by the look and style the product, it is well designed bit of kit and although I am more concerned with function it looked very cool sitting on the cabinet in his bathroom.

I was also impressed by the digital display and the mechanical length setting which saves a lot of fuss and hassle when changing the length setting, thinking about it would be handy to take on holiday because you don't need lots of the clipper grades, which can be easily lost.

I didn't use the I-Stubble because my friend had been telling me that he had successfully trimmed his pubic area with the trimmer the previous day and although he assured me he cleaned the I-Stubble I still wasn't keen so he gave me a demonstration.

I have done a bit of research on the I-Stubble because I think this is going to be a big seller. Bayliss have been sensible and taken all the best features of the i-trim, a popular beard trimmer and built a new trimmer with some significant improvements. Bayliss have noticed that people are becoming more conscious of their length of their designer stubble and like to be different from their friends and even have a different look day to day. The I-Stubble has 15 different length setting, which is significant variety and I think is enough for even the most fickle or fashion conscious among us.

The Bayliss is also a quick beard trimmer, my friend remarked that he was particularly impressed with how quickly it chopped through his previously thick beard. He said the I-Stubbles unique tilting head was really useful and made for an efficient and comfortable shave. And like Bayliss own marketing suggests it did lead to a nice even finish.

It takes ninety minutes to charge and this will give you 45 minutes of use. Although this seems like most other quality beard trimmers, the quicker trimming time means you will need to recharge it less.

Something I would like to comment on is the sixteen hour initial charging time. Bayliss seem to be making it very clear that when you get your I-Stubble you need to charge it for sixteen hours before use. I know that this is because it will maximise the charge your I-Stubble will hold and life span of your beard trimmer so really would take this advice seriously if buying an I-Stubble.

As a summary I think this is a great beard trimmer and I know they have a delighted customer in my friend. If you are looking for a versatile, quick and stylish daily beard trimmer this could be the product for you. The I-Stubble does not come with things like the ear and nose hair trimmer that some of its competitors in the same price range do but as a pure daily beard trimmer I think you will be hard pushed to find a better product.

Best Value - The Remington MB320c Barber Beard Trimmer

05 July 2012

The Remington MB320c Barber Beard Trimmer is a very popular beard trimmer and provides great value for money retailing currently at £16.80 from Dixons. The carbon coated blade on the Remington MB320c is strong and durable and means that you are buying a product that will last for years.

I have used Remington products a lot over the years and with the MB320c Remington have produced another great value for money piece of equipment.

The MB320c Beard Trimmer has nine pre-set length setting and an easy to use zoom wheel that lets you be as precise as you want. Personally I find that once I have a length of stubble I like the length setting does not get changed but it's useful to have the flexibility when your finding that length of the start.

The MB320c trimmer includes lube for life technology so there is no need to worry about oiling, a process which often gets neglected and ultimately reduces the life span of your beard trimmer.

It is easy to use and has a pop up trimmer for more detailed trimming and those harder to reach spots. It holds charge for forty minutes of use time and although this might not seem like long I do not find myself constantly charging the trimmer.

The Remington MB320c Barber Beard Trimmer is a nice looking piece of grooming equipment Remington having even included a nice looking travel case and when I went on holiday the trimmer and case fitted easily into my hand luggage.

For any ladies out there reading this thinking of buying the MB320c as a gift I would highly recommend this trimmer. Particularly for younger guys who probably wouldn't get as much use out of functions such as nose and ear trimmers that many of the more expensive trimmers include.

Finally and potentially most importantly the Remington MB320c Barber Beard Trimmer is easy to use and easy to keep clean, it has a hinged cutting element so there is nowhere for the stubble to hide when cleaning it.

Although I have now bought another more expensive beard trimmer, mainly for the extra functions such as the ear and nose trimmers I still find myself using this one when I am going away. Thankfully I am not yet at an age where nose and ear hair build up quickly so I find when I go on holiday I don't need the extra functions so I just take my Remington.

This is a great product and would be my preference in the low value category of beard trimmers. I have looked at a variety of reviews on this trimmer and I am hard pushed to find someone who is not pleased with this product. All I can think of is the fact that it doesn't include the nose and ear hair trimming functions that once every few months I find useful with my more expensive trimmer.

Happy trimming!
